We at Blue Water Ventures Key West occasionally run into people that touch our hearts and lives. W. Keith Webb, CEO and founder of Blue Water Ventures KW, along with myself Dan Porter and crewmembers Jesse Van Houten and Chad Fulwood ran into one such family. We were on a recent trip to an absolutely beautiful secluded town known as Welaka, Fl. Welaka is tucked away on the St. Johns River in northeast Florida. This area of the river and near by Crescent Lake was a well known hiding spot for pirates to do repairs to their ships and lay low. This could be why we like it so much ourselves.
At our favorite local diner named the Cozy Cabin we have come to know Dawn Adam. Dawn works at the Cozy Cabin and we always look forward to seeing her smiling face. On August 14th a tragedy struck Dawn’s family when her Husband’s sons Patrick & Christopher and daughter Stephanie along with two friends were on the way to a high school football and cheerleading practice in Crescent City. There was a terrible accident and Dawn’s husband has been hospitalized ever since. Patrick has had to grow up fast and take care of his brother and sister while Dawn works and tries to help her husband at the hospital. It has been a very trying experience to say the least.
What we at Blue Water Ventures KW wish to do is show Patrick some appreciation by inviting him down to Key West on a real treasure hunting expedition on the Santa Margarita site. Prior to that we, with the help of our on board dive instructor Jesse, we will get Patrick certified as a scuba diver and supply him with travel and great accommodations in Key West. Then it will be off to the site and the world of treasure finding where he will have the chance to find some real Spanish treasure. The stuff that dreams are made of.
We would like to invite you to join Patrick’s adventure as he experiences what it takes to become a member of the world renowned treasure hunting crew of the Blue Water Rose.
I will give you monthly up dates on Patrick’s progress. First, let me introduce Dawn and the crew at the Cozy Cabin.

| Update - Jan 08

Well it has been a month since the last update on Patrick’s quest to come to Key West and dive with the crew of the Blue Water Rose. Since our last report, the crew and I went straight into “Raider Country” and visited Patrick at Crescent City High School. We presented him with all the bookwork he will need to study and prepare himself for his open water certification as a SCUBA diver. Patrick has an open line to Jesse Van Houten our on board dive Instructor if he has any questions during his studies.
Patrick was very excited about our surprise visit to his school and about the opportunity to come down and dive for treasure on the Margarita wreck site. We will be spending more time in Welaka over the holidays for some strategic meetings with the whole crew so we will be checking in with Patrick and bring you a new update soon.
